<sup>km2<\/sup>.<\/p><p>The Selous Reserve is an averagely sought-after park among safari enthusiasts in Tanzania, and despite its fame and rich flora and fauna, it is one of the less-traveled data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The reserve covers an area of truly remarkable size, within which no habitation or permanent structures are allowed, not unlike <a title=\"Ruaha Park\" href=\"https:\/\/safariavventura.com\/parchi-nazionali-tanzania\/parco-nazionale-del-ruaha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruaha Park.<\/a> Entries of people and tourists are carefully recorded and monitored by the Wildlife Division of Tanzania&#8217;s Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. <\/p><p>In Selous Park you can find the best-known animals of the Miombo (a forest composed mainly of plants of the genus Brachystegia that covers the savannas of Africa), such as hippos, Cape buffalo, zebras, black rhinos, and African elephants in significantly greater numbers than in any other Tanzanian national park or African game reserve.<\/p><p>A large area of the park along the Rufiji River is to this day used as a safari photography area, and as time goes on it becomes an increasingly popular tourist destination for safari enthusiasts. These include: <\/p><ul><li>The Rufiji River, which flows in front of Mafie Island.<\/li><li>Stiegler Gorge, a canyon 100 meters wide and 100 meters deep<\/li><li>Acacia grasslands and savannas<\/li><li>The forests of Miombo<\/li><li>Safari on foot<\/li><li>Boat trips on the Rufiji River to be able to see the beautiful views around it<\/li><li>A unique amount of animals (there are about 30 thousand elephants, as many as 200 thousand giraffes, and 420 different species of birds)<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-1584-4\" class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\"><div id=\"pgc-1584-4-0\" class=\"panel-grid-cell\"><div id=\"panel-1584-4-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"6\"><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-1584-4-0-0\"><div class=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"><div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\"><p>There is an impressive number of animals typical of Tanzania within the park, although the density of animals is lower than in parks in the northern area, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/safariavventura.com\/parchi-nazionali-tanzania\/area-di-conservazione-ngorongoro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ngorongoro<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/safariavventura.com\/parchi-nazionali-tanzania\/parco-nazionale-del-serengeti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serengeti<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/safariavventura.com\/parchi-nazionali-tanzania\/parco-nazionale-del-tarangire-safari-e-flussi-migratori\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tarangire<\/a>.<\/p><p>A big plus point of the <strong>Selous Game Reserve<\/strong> is that this is one of the few reserves in Tanzania in which walking safaris are allowed. In fact, during safari itineraries in Selous you will have the opportunity to experience as many as three different types of safaris, those on foot, by Jeep and by boat, for a one-of-a-kind
