Day 2
Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, we transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a site straddling the equator in western Uganda.

Packed lunch during the transfer and photo safari in the park until arrival at the lodge.

This park, established in 1954, is built around the Kazinga Canal that joins Lakes George and Edward and is named after Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

The park is characterized by diverse habitats: savanna, swamps, rainforest, the lake basins of Lake Edward and Kazinga Channel, and volcanic craters, some of which form volcanic lakes such as Katwe.

A huge number of animals live here, about 95 species of mammals, including: hippos, Nile crocodiles, lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and several species of primates. We also find an extraordinary concentration of birds, about 600 species, including pink flamingos in the lake areas.

In the southern part of the park called “Ishasha” we can also see lions in the trees, where they spend their days between hunts.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Bush Lodge within the Queen Elisabeth N.P. (or similar category).

Day 3
Queen Elizabeth National Park with chimpanzee trekking and boat safari

After breakfast, we will continue our discovery of this amazing park, with some very fascinating activities.

In the morning, accompanied by a ranger, we will make a trek in search of chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge, a rift where the river of the same name flows and then flows into the Kazinga Channel. Here is a forest with rich and varied vegetation, different from the others we will visit. The experience is exciting and very atmospheric, immersed in African nature it is possible to see chimpanzees, but also other animals such as hippos, colobus and different types of birds.

Packed lunch.

After lunch we will take a water safari, a small boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a place rich in wildlife. We will be able to observe in safety and relaxation many animals that live or come to water here, such as hippos, buffalo herds, crocodiles, elephants, antelopes and a wide variety of birds.

This activity also turns out to be really very interesting and fascinating.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Bush Lodge within the Queen Elisabeth N.P. (or similar category).

Day 4
Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park and transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, we head to the southern part of the park, passing through Maramagambo Forest.

We visit the area of Ishasha in search of the wildlife that resides here and in particular the “climbing lions,” lions that have a special habit of climbing fig trees , trees that branch a few meters high, above which they like to lie for hours. It is possible to observe this particular characteristic of lions only in this area or in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania.

Packed lunch will be served at the park.

Next, we continue our transfer to Ruhja in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where an overnight stay is planned.

Dinner and overnight stay at Broadbill Forest Camp Ruhija within Bwindi N.P. (or similar category).

Day 5
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Gorilla trekking and Kisoro

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park has extraordinary biodiversity, with the presence of important populations of endangered species, particularly Mountain Gorillas (about half of the world’s population of this species resides here), and was therefore declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

Its territory, occupied mostly by tropical forest and jungle, is largely accessible only on foot.

After a sunrise breakfast and a short briefing with the rangers, in groups of up to 8 people we will begin a fairly challenging trek into the forest in search of mountain gorillas. The trek always varies depending on the positioning of the gorilla families, but as a rule, from the first sighting, you will be with these amazing animals for an hour. Meeting the gorillas up close and observing them in their natural habitat is an indescribable and unforgettable thrill and totally repays the efforts made to reach them (at least two liters of water, hiking shoes and a k-way must be carried during the trek).

Around 1 p.m. we will return from the trek. Packed lunch.

Next, transfer to the small town of Kisoro, located near the park that we will visit the following day.

Dinner and overnight stay at Mucha Hotel in Kisoro (or similar category).

Day 6
Mgahinga National Park, golden monkey trekking and Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast at dawn, we move to Mgahinga National Park.

This park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda, bordering Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda) and Virunga Park (DRC). It features breathtaking views of the peaks of Volcanoes National Park. The park area includes three of the eight Volcanoes in the Virunga Range: the Muhavura, Sabinyo, and Gahinga, from which the park takes its name.

We will take a nice 3/4-hour trek at an altitude of about 2,500 meters to discover the golden monkeys.

These beautiful, brightly colored primates are little known and endemic to the area, living in bamboo trees and considered endangered.

Two gorilla families are also present in this park and can be observed.

After the trek, pack lunch and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, a large swimming lake characterized by the presence of 29 islands.

Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort Kabale (or similar category).
