Trekking Machame Route

The second hike we have planned is the Machame Route, the most difficult and challenging but also the most spectacular trek. No tour of Kilimanjaro will allow you to see the magical landscapes, moorlands, natural vistas and the Shira Plateau like the Machame Route will. The ascent will start from Machame Gate until you reach Machame Camp, and then climb up to Shira Camp. From there it will begin a hike in a semi-desert landscape around Lava Tower up to Barranco Camp and then further up to Barafu Camp. From there you can finally climb to Uhuru Peak and then begin the descent. Unlike the other tours, on the Machame Route you will sleep in a tent. But trust me: it’s worth it!
