You will be taken, after breakfast, to explore the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of the most famous safari sites in the world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 and an International Biosphere Reserve in 1981. The Ngorongoro Crater, the area of greatest interest, is located at 2,200 meters above sea level, and is the largest uninterrupted caldera in the world, and one of Africa’s natural wonders with approximately 30,000 large mammals living here all year round, such as buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs and rhinoceroses, along with many bird varieties, such as flamingos, eagles, buzzards, ostriches and hawks.

The crater’s center is occupied by the shallow waters of Lake Magadi, which tends to dry up during the dry season, and is the best place from which to observe flocks of flamingos and crowned cranes, as well as several herbivores, especially the large number of wildebeests and zebras who drink here, attracting lions and hyenas.

The boundless prairies are occasionally interrupted by eccentric granite formations – kopjes, which often contain small pools of rainwater, attracting a variety of small animals, as well as large predators such as lions who enjoy lying in them or hiding in wait for a possible prey.

The rivers are lined with plenty of tracks where you can see crocodiles, hippos, and many other animals coming to drink.

The area is also home to leopards, who often bask in the branches of the umbrella acacia.

We leave for the park early in the morning and return to the lodge at about 18:00.
